Lithuanian is the official state language of Lithuania and is one of the oldest languages that survived from the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family. The language is closely related to Latvian, although they are not mutually intelligible and it is written in Roman script. Although the country is not very big, there are different dialects of the language that came along with the history. Lithuanian language is based on Latin alphabet, however it has a couple of unique letters for a total count of 32 letters in the alphabet.
